Research report on the application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Anti-drone systems

2025-01-22 20:39:18

In recent years, UAV technology has made significant progress. It has not only been widely used in civilian fields such as aerial photography, logistics, agriculture, etc., but also has shown great potential in the military field. The flight altitude, speed, endurance and load capacity of UAVs have been greatly improved, allowing them to perform more complex and diverse tasks. However, this rapid development has also brought new problems, that is, drones may be used for illegal or malicious purposes, such as terrorist attacks, espionage, etc., posing a serious threat to national security and social stability. With the popularization of drone technology and the increase of potential threats, the demand for anti-drone technology by governments and military agencies is also growing day by day.Traditional anti-drone methods such as fire strikes and physical interception have many limitations, such as high cost, low efficiency, and easy to cause collateral damage. Therefore, the development of efficient, intelligent and low-cost anti-drone weapon systems has become an urgent task. The rapid development of artificial intelligence technology has provided new ideas and methods for the research and development of anti-drone weapon systems.Through the introduction of artificial intelligence technology, the automatic detection, tracking, identification and strike of drones can be realized, and the efficiency and accuracy of anti-drone systems can be improved. At the same time, artificial intelligence technology can also realize the prediction of UAV flight trajectory and the optimization of interception strategies, and further improve the combat effectiveness of anti-UAV systems. At present, foreign countries have made significant progress in the research of anti-drone weapon systems based on artificial intelligence. For example, the Air Shield system launched by Leidos in the United States uses advanced threat assessment and a variety of mechanisms to provide comprehensive air defense solutions for drones. The system uses multifunctional X-band radar for detection and tracking, an automatic decision-making engine for evaluation and decision-making, and is used in conjunction with various effectors to eliminate threats. In addition, the British company MARSS demonstrated its end-to-end integrated anti-drone system in the “Hongsha 2024” exercise. The system integrates multiple sensors and effectors, and performs threat analysis and decision-making through artificial intelligence technology to achieve rapid strikes on drones. In the future, anti-drone weapon systems based on artificial intelligence will continue to develop in the direction of intelligence and integration. On the one hand, the degree of automation and accuracy of the system will be further improved to achieve more accurate and efficient strikes on drones; on the other hand, the system's collaborative combat capabilities will be strengthened and a multi-means, multi-level, and coordinated defense system will be built to deal with the increasingly complex DRONE threats.Based on open source intelligence, this report collects and collates a total of more than 90 typical artificial intelligence-based anti-drone systems developed or used by various countries, and classifies and compares their basic functions and the parts of the application of artificial intelligence technology. In addition, the application status, effectiveness, characteristics and trends of artificial intelligence technology in different types of systems are studied separately.
